We are very pleased to announce that Ramadan 2019 / Ramzan 1440 will begin on 6th May 2019, Monday in most countries of the world, except a small part of Oceania and Eastern part of Russia.
We invite you to take a look at the visibility curves for Ramadan 2019 (1440). You will notice that the Ramadan moon will be born on Saturday, May 04, at 22:45 UTC. As it will be born very late on May 04, there will be no chances of it being visible on the same day in any part of the world.
Next day, on the evening of 05th May 2019, there will be great chances of its visibility in the countries belonging to the western part of the world. As can be seen in the visibility curve, there are good chances of direct Ramadan Crescent Visibility in the Polynesian islands and in North, Central and South America, all these countries being either in the green or the blue visibility belt. In countries where Direct visibility is not possible, indirect visibility will still be possible. This will be the case in all of Europe, all of Africa and in all parts of Asia, except eastern Russia. The crescent will be visible to the west of these countries before the Fajr prayer in each (the concept of the extension of the zone of the visibility). Thus, most parts of the world (except western Russia and few countries of Oceania) will be able to start Ramadan on the next day, Monday, 6th May 2019. The western part of Russia and the a few of the countries in Oceania will begin Ramadan on Tuesday, May 07. We have published below an extensive list of countries arranged as per the beginning date of the Ramadan 2019.
Those who would like to get more details about extension of the zone of the visibility are requested to read our detailed introduction to the Islamic Calendar.
On 5th May 2019, Sunday, we will publish Ramadan 1440 live moon sighting reports along with photographs on our website. These reports will be provided by our astronomer friends and will also be sourced from icoproject.org and moonsighting.com. We invite you to visit our site towards the beginning of Ramadan in order to get updates about crescent sighting.
