Dhul-Hijjah 2018 (1439) will start on Sunday, 12th August 2018 in North, Central and South America as well as in French Polynesia and a few westernmost countries of Europe and Africa. In the rest of the African and European countries, in all of Asia and in the major part of Oceania, the first day of Dhul-Hijjah 2018 will be one day later, on 13th August 2018. The countries that start Dhul-Hijjah on 12th August will celebrate Eid al Adha 2018 [Aid El Kebir 1439] on Tuesday, 21st August 2018 while those that start Dhul-Hijjah on 13th August will celebrate Eid al Adha 2018 on 22nd August 2018, Wednesday.
We invite you to take a look at the visibility curves for Dhul-Hijjah 2018. You will notice that the Dhul-Hijjah moon will be born on Saturday, August 11 at 09:57 UTC. As it will be born late, there will be few chances of its direct visibility on the same day evening in the major part of the world. As can be seen in the visibility curves, only some areas of French Polynesia are in the blue zone and hence, there are good chances of crescent visibility there on the evening of 11th August 2018, if the weather conditions are good. As direct visibility of the crescent will be acquired near to French Polynesia before the Fajr prayer in North, Central and South American countries as well as in French Polynesia and a few westernmost countries of Africa and Europe, Dhul-Hijjah can start there on the next day, Sunday, 12th August 2018 (concept of extended visibility). The rest of the European and African countries, all of Asia and the major part of Oceania will start Dhul-Hijjah 2018 on 13th August 2018, Monday.
We have published below an extensive list of countries arranged as per the Eid al Adha 2018 celebration date. Those who would like to get more details about why Eid al Adha 2018 will be on two different dates in the world are requested to read our detailed introduction to the Islamic Calendar.
Since Eid al Adha will be celebrated on 22nd August in Saudi Arabia, Wuquf Arafat will be on 21 August.
Similar to Eid al Fitr 2018, we will publish Eid al Adha 2018 (Dhul-Hijjah 1439) live moon sighting reports to the right of this announcement. We invite you to visit our site towards the end of the Dhul-Qi'dah 2018 to get updates about crescent sighting.

We wish all our viewers Eid Mubarak in Advance!
As has become their habit, the Wahhabis have declared that they saw the crescent on the evening of Saturday 11th August. And they have officially fixed the day of Wuquf Arafat on the date of 20th August.
In fact, on the evening of 11th August, the crescent was totally absent in the sky of the whole peninsula of Arabia. On this same evening, it was potentially visible – that is to say if the atmospheric conditions permitted – in Papeete, capital of French Polynesia at 18:07 hours in local time. It so happens that when it was 18:07 hours in Papeete, it was already Sunday 12th August 07:07 hours in Mecca.
Once more, the Wahhabis display their total contempt of Islam and its Commandments. Such is their custom. It is even their reason for existing. In effect, ever since they have grappled power in 1920 and taken over the Holy Places, they have not ceased to subvert Islam and to promote corruption on earth.
What we must deplore is not so much their seizure of power. What we must deplore is the docility and the passivity of those who follow them blindly, like herded sheep.
In 2013, in France, Dalil Boubaker, rector of the Mosque of Paris, arbitrarily declared on the evening of 8th July, that Ramadan would begin on Tuesday 9th July, whereas this date was actually the last day of Shaban. As a result of this off-handedness, the majority of the people did not follow him. So much so, that towards noon on 9th July the Rector had to take back his words and to admit that 9th July was the last day of Shaban.
Our religion is clear. Its rules are limpid and transparent. It is only necessary to observe them properly.
Passivity, and the docile and resigned acceptation of their whims is worse than the abuse of power itself by the Wahhabis.
Our duty is to be attentive, vigilant and remaining totally alert to divine prescriptions.
Let us hope that each one of us will attentively read these verses. Let us hope that he will realise their meaning and takes into consideration the heavy warnings that they convey.
